Miss Demeanour, Hunter Aircraft, St Athan Yesterday

I was lucky enough to be invited to St Athan yesterday morning to watch Miss Demeanour, the lovely coloured Hunter aircraft, take off. I have combined all the pics and videos I took to make a compilation which I have placed on You Tube. The pictures are to the music of Stairway to Heaven performed by the Sydney Philharmonic orchestra. I thought I would share it with those of you that like this kind of thing. Apologies the video is a bit shaky, I blame the wind:O

P.S. Best to watch in HD and with a decent vol to enjoy the engine start.

Nicely done, my memories of Saints were the bloody cross countries

Rigga 24th Jun 2012 18:14

Watched little "Miss" doing her thing at Lowestoft today - what an aircraft the Hunter is.

And I remember that it was almost a joy to work on too!

Rigga

So pleased to hear all went well at Lowestoft today. Thanks:ok:

two into one

I remember my father telling me of an AOC inspection
at West Raynham whereby one of the Hunters generated was actually the front part of one and the rear of another. He told me they were actually quite accurately built and the first fighter he had seen where that was possible.
How it was possible to tell that I have no idea, but the AOC apparently just looked the other way. No doubt
someone will verify/deny/correct.

Just to correct my own post I recall reading that Lancaster bombers
which lasted long enough to need major overhaul were broken
down into major parts, the re-assembled bomber was not necessarily the parts of the original as they went through the repair process at different speeds. True or false ?

Looks like it was painted by the Gay Pride "Rainbow" movement.

Looks like a bloody pikey caravan to me

Momoe 25th Jun 2012 09:29

Individual taste, personally I think it's a breath of fresh air and suits the Hunter, wouldn't work on a Spit or a Mustang though.

bvcu 25th Jun 2012 13:51

nice to see something different , anyone remember spencer flacks spitfire, fury and hunter in red !

Wander00 25th Jun 2012 14:36

I think it looks great, but only on ONE airframe - don't want all the airworth Hunters looking like that - and definitely not a Spitfire!

HUNTER

Agree with WanderOO !

As for the Hunter in general, who was it said "If it looks good " etc

Corporal Clott 25th Jun 2012 16:19

Because the Hunter is such a fantastic looking jet you can almost paint it any shade and it looks good. But I agree with The B Word...this looks like a dog's breakfast...it is almost sacrelege!!!

With such a beautiful jet you really should stick to these schemes below...

I agree, sacrelege, like doing this to an Aston Martin! :yuk:

We'd a guy named Dave Hunt on JPs who went around writing 'Hunt for Hunters' all over the place.
Hope he made it :ok:

One of our instructors went off to a Hunter squadron and came back to give us a little flypast. We were pre-warned and some of us were up on the outside balcony of the control tower.
He passed beneath us.:D

So the long, shiny, pointy thing on the port wing is for hanging your nice shiny helmet on, always wondered what it was for :E

Helmets on Pitot tubes

In my day they would have got a very polite telling off by the line chief for doing that on our Hunters!:=

Spelling Police Alert...

I agree on sacrilege

Noun - the misuse or desecration of anything regarded as sacred or as worthy of extreme respect

But not the spelling! :=

I'm not that fond of the rather lurid paint scheme - all over midnight blue would be good though.

Is it my imagination, or are the Sabrinas on Miss Demeanour somewhat more D-cup than were the ones on the RAF's Hunters?

Beags

I think it is the God-awful paint job that makes them look more norkish! :p
