Archimedes, I nearly claimed 3 x gin and tonics off you until I realised that you were referring to Field Marshal Sir Nigel B******, not The Scottish Officer :yuk:

Yes Courtney, our initial scepticism about the Vulcan being a good tanker were soon disproved. A much more stable tanker than the Victor; even I found it easy to prod a Vulcan with the F-4! Plus it didn't have those slow Mk20 wing pods - just a Mk17 HDU with a decent delivery rate.

(Drove through your neck of the woods yesterday - the 'no HS2 here' signs are much in evidence!).

I'm not entirely certain that any reform, particularly anything positive, was ever associated with the Scottish Officer, so made the perhaps bold assumption that I could get away without causing anything other than momentary concern with my use of the B-word...

Ah...the Scottish Officer !!

I'd almost forgotten him, having upset him on many an occasion! Oh how we laughed!! :hmm:

Not Black Buck per se Archimedes - the resolve of the British Government to be tough as well as talking it and the ability and elan of the Armed Forces (all branches) to prosecute the policy.

We suddenly had renewed faith in ourselves and the Russkies took note of that.

Cosmic

Perhaps the the Warsaw Pact folded due to the uncertainties of not knowing which side the French were on? :O

We stray, but I venture to add that, if their military preparedness was in line with their Met. Service, its a good thing for the Pact that they did not try it on ......... their Met. and associated equipment/ instruments/training was abyssmal.

Third World, frankly.

Call in for QTR and a debrief next time! :ok:

Strange, you know, the Scottish Group Captain actually went on to serve the AD community, especially the E3, rather well in select committees.
