Herc side console
I once had the pleasure of a jolly flight around the Falkland Islands in a Herc. I was in the rear jumpseat (under the bubble) for the take off. As soon as we took off I noticed a Sgt, not one of the pilots got up and retarded 1 lever on the console and some clear liquid came out of it.
Can anyone tell me what the liquid was and why the Captain or Co-pilot did not do it? Thanks |
That's the bar... Probably Vodka or Gin...
The pilots aren't qualified... |
Sounds like the hot water flask. Once the flaps are up 'where's my cuppa'?
So this post is a joke right? But if it had been Pete Tyas, that fluid could have been anything - not yellow was it? |
No, the yellow fluid lived the other side of the flight deck, in the corner by the table :ok:
|
In days of old the sergeant knew what it was, the pilot officer did a taste test, the flight lieutenant did a smell test, the sqn ldr did a visual observation but the wg cdr didn't notice as he has a sqn ldr, flt lt, and fg off to confirm what the sgt knew.

Side console = nav sitting very still indeed.

The Sgt was probably draining fluid off before he pulled the 'T' Handles with the black and yellow hatching on the overhead panel in a similar thread...
