Air to air collison in Afghanistan yesterday?

Azerbaijan Business Center - An unidentified flying object

Baku, Fineko/abc.az. IL-76 4K-AZ 55, a freight aircraft of Silk Way Airlines, which was supposed to land at Bagram airport of Afghanistan at 2:10 am by Baku time, collided with an unidentified flying object in the air, according to the initial information.

"Such suppositions are linked with the fact that the crew reported of no emergency before the aircraft disappeared from the radar visibility,” the State Civil Aviation Administration of Azerbaijan informs.

The plane took off from the international airport named after Heydar Aliyev on 5 July at 9:26 pm on local time. It had 18 tons of cargo on board. Before flying to Bagram airport, the plane flew via route Baku-Kuwait without any problems.

Aircraft IL-76 4K-AZ 55 with capacity of 40 tons was produced in 2005, and passed full technical inspection in February 2011 and the next inspection this June. On board was a crew of nine men led by captain Sergey Kuzmin, 42, and 4,576 hours of flying experience.

It was also reported that a special commission was set up to investigate the accident, and after consultations with the Afghan aviation management the local specialists are expected to study the place of occurrence. Details will be announced after commission’s research.

Whatever happened, RIP.
