Hi Guys - Civil guy asking for advice - Camp Bastion .... anything to tell - flew years ago many times in and out of Kandahar near by - Thanks - Twin2040.

It might help anyone who feels like writing about an operational military base what sort of information you are trying to find out! And why.

Twin- it's almost like asking a question of where can you get your hands on depleted Uranium.

Depleted uranium (238 isotope) is no use to anybody. What you want is Uranium-235.

Have they started stocking that in the Bastion NAFFI again? Couldn't get anything other than plutonium isotopes last time I was passing through.

Massive and far busier than you will remember. [No state secrets given away I think].

If you tell us what time you'll be dropping off the Page 3 girls, we'll tell you whatever you need to know.

Have the Army been banned again? :}

Don't think they have a "NAAFI" at Bastion.

No NAAFI, EFI instead.

There's lots of sand. And some tents. Take sunscreen, and an extra vest.

The food has improved in the past 5 years though.

I wouldnt bother going. Not that highly rated on Tripadvisor.

Not much to tell. New runway operational, parking problems seem to have been alleviated by the opening of the new civilian ramp. Just make sure you take plenty of gas, as I've often been held 30 minutes plus while waiting to land.
