VC10s back to St Athan??
Heard a rumour today (before the rugby and still sober) that some form of fault has been discovered on the 10s and they are considering sending them back to St Athan to sort it out.
Something to do with fuel distribution to the donks…….but I must admit my rumour source is not the most technically minded person in the world.:sad: Anybody know anything? |
Check your pm's;)

I know that it isn't very likely that an aircraft with a known or suspected fault in the fuel supply to the ENGINES would be flown anywhere
|
I hope not as I'm about to spend 32 hours in one this week..mostly over the sea!
|
In that case, Spit the Dog, may I suggest warm underware, a fluorescent cap and don't forget the waterwings.
|
Spit, is that your allocated hours for the week, or the next two months?

Apologies if this link has been posted before:
RAF VC10s I know that it has nothing to do with the title of the thread but I thought some here might find it interesting. |
Flew out to Aden in one, in 1966, and they are still flying, should have been replaced many years ago.

VC-10
While I was on temporary duty up at Goose Bay in 1996, a VC-10 had gear problems that could not be fixed there. They wired the undercarriage and it flew back to the U.K. at 250 knots.
Cheers...Chris |
I have to ask: what sort of fault can "suddenly" occur like this after 40+ years of service? After that length of service surely there can be no surprises left with regards to the systems.
Conspiracy theory: suprious fuel fault = convenient excuse for an early scrapping followed by "capability holiday". |
