Went through UAS with a chap who reached the exaulted rank of AVM. He was unusual (or was in those days) in that he had a cadetship as a Navigator and flew Nav Exes from the RHS in the Bulldog. Sadly it was noticed after one sortie that he had written "Port" and "Stbd" on the cuffs of his flying gloves as a reminder, and yes, Port was on his right glove, and stbd on the left!

Probably got the gloves on the wrong hands!

W, when was that? Not NS by any chance although he may have been a little earlier.

He may have started life as a rear gunner

It would have worked from the Vulcan Navs' seats.
