Alcock (and Browne)

I note that a former F4 uber-specialist and Wattisham staish appears to have embarked on a lecture tour featuring his illustrious uncle.

Anyone got the itinerary, should it exist? I'd love to meet the fellow again. Better still, are you here, TA?

BEagle 23rd Sep 2010 19:40

I'm sure that Buzzy's lecture would be extremely interesting - is he doing a lecture tour or just the occasional one-off?

Good luck to the old bugger!

Beags - I've no idea. But I bet it's an interesting gig, with some family film. Did you know TA on 56 Sqn? I think he was pretty senior at Mount Pleasant before Wattisham.

BEagle 23rd Sep 2010 20:43

He was OC 'B' Flt on 56(F) before OP CORPORATE kicked off in 1982 - my Flt Cdr when I arrived as a JP in 1981.

A chap so far ahead of the game that he would open and close a door before walking through it!

So will he take his sidekick - Brown 'with an E' - with him?? :)

Good luck to Buzzy on his efforts. He put a lot of effort into the commemoration

Would have been nice to see thier faces when the "draft pictures" were brought out and shown to them.

(Unless they had raided a couple of airfix kits)

"We groundcrew also had many a happy long night at cease flying polishing the thing, NOT!!"

So true! Do you remember how it looked after the first sortie???!!!!

wiggy 28th Sep 2010 20:23

Do tell - boot prints, bug splats???? or worse???????

Geehovah 29th Sep 2010 06:17

Lets say the adhesion properties of some of the "acrylic" wasn't quite rated for 360 kts!!

claron 29th Sep 2010 11:48

Geehovah.

I do remember gallon cans of car polish, and little plastic bags to segregate the coloured screw heads, so as not to mess up the flags along the spine panels when we took them off. Happy days!!
