Red Arrows Synchro Board of Inquiry
Does anyone know where they are with the BOI from the synchro collision earlier in the year?

What's a BoI??? Don't you mean Service Inquiry???
|
Presumably the outcome will be that it was a very unfortunate accident and it was one of the pilot's errors of judgement (after all it only takes a slight error from making the perfect pass 50ft apart to hitting each other at those speeds!). Considering one of the pilot's is still displaying with the Red's, I fail to see what the board of inquiry will conclude (unless it was Lingy's error!)

Well I thought it was public domain info these days and I imagine there will be interest in the outcome.
|
It will be, just give it time.
Are you getting pressure from your editor for the story? |
Nope - I'm just a taxpayer wondering what happened, that's all .....
|
In my very limited experience these things generally take about a year to report and publish.
|
A year to report...
At least it will be new news for the Daily Mail when it does come out, won't it?

Para 32 of the findings appears to be rather thorough.

Well it reads to me that the reds seem not to be as squeaky clean as we all think they are .
To me it reads like the reds are getting rather complacment in there routines and training which is abit worrying what is strange that they dont pratice escape mons in the simulator for the syncro pair especially when there flying over 300mph at each other as it states not alot of room for error . I wonder if that was the reason why the RAF stopped flying the hawk t1a whilst they fitted the arm restraints to the bang seats. Dont get me wrong as far as i can recall this is the first a/c they have lost in a major accident or collision since 1 hit a mast in brighton i may be proved wrong . Well as far as i can gather the board havent pulled the roll backs or put restrictions on anything else they fly well not long till the season starts so will have to wait and see . |

The RAFAT have lost several aircraft in accidents post 1980. However as their loss was never captured on video in a public display, they are not widely known. I know two aircraft crashed at Cranwell alone, when the Sparrows were there.
Do you work on JT8Ds as a hobby?:E |
I lost a very good friend in the 60's in a previous Reds synchro mid-air during an opposition pass. That also occurred during the team work-up.
Happy that this collision did not result in further sadness but not convinced that lessons were learned from the loss of my friend nor am I convinced that this inquiry will prevent it happening again. |

No - that's the one I referred to - seemed like the 60's - blame creeping senility.
