Gainesy 13th Jan 2010 08:18

Is'nt there a bunch of taxiable Jags held by some obscure-ish outfit at Cranwell?

Ewan Whosearmy 13th Jan 2010 08:30

Unbelievable :ugh:

Everett Aero has a couple of Jags in taxiable condition. They'll be laughing all the way to the bank!

bobward 13th Jan 2010 10:52

Cranwell Jaguars

There certainly are some there , Gainsey, painted in high vis black, to boot.
What about all the jets that went to Cosford when No 6 Sqdn closed down. Oh, I forgot, the're on someone else's inventory.....

Razor61 13th Jan 2010 11:48

Cosford just got rid of some Jaguars and they have ended up recently at Pembrey Range!!

Gainesy 13th Jan 2010 11:55

Hmm, thought they were destined for sunnier climes.

knowitall 13th Jan 2010 15:17

I've a friend who can smuggle them one out of Nigeria, all thats needed is a deposit and the MOD's bank acount details...........

Green Flash 13th Jan 2010 15:29

FFS, isn't there a spare Tonka frame kicking about that they could use? At least the baby engineers will be working on something that is still in the operational inventory (and will probably still be when they are instructors!)

Gentleman Jim 13th Jan 2010 15:56

I am not sure that there is a tidy profit to made when the value of the contract is 20k-40k. MOD cheapskates.

Will a Lynx Mk 9 Do or better still about 30 odd Wildcat? :E

Got an old Jaguar aircraft in your scrapyard? Want to turn it into cold hard cash? N Joe Enterprises sense a lucrative rental opportunity and will guarantee to beat any MoD offer.

(Based on a true story about the Goose Bay LOX plant. Bought by an ex-pat when the RAF decided they didn't need it. He refused to sell it back when the RAF changed their mind but happily sold us LOX for many years.)

"FFS, isn't there a spare Tonka frame kicking about that they could use? At least the baby engineers will be working on something that is still in the operational inventory (and will probably still be when they are instructors! ) "

Maybe they want an aeroplane - not a flick-knife?

sumps 13th Jan 2010 23:13

Why dont they use some of the much unwanted traunch 3 Typhoons, that way the aircraft will see some form of operational service!:E And the worlds greatest air display aircraft will have added a new string to its bow :}

dropintheoggin 13th Jan 2010 23:25

Is there not a pair of Jags parked at Syerston?

sisemen 14th Jan 2010 01:10

I can see it now, the dawn of a new age............ Value for money etc. etc.

I like it, I like it :ok: Time to get the mothballs out of the No 1 and Mess Dress .... polish up the Oxfords and wash the OGs/DPM. Tell me, would one be able to get a zimmer frame from stores??

Mandator 25th Mar 2010 08:11

newt 25th Mar 2010 09:39

This looks like another complete cockup! I thought the last remaining Jags were flown into Cosford for long term storage!!
Surely they could use one of them?

Reminds me of when we folded Treble One and handed over to the
F4. All the Mk 3 Lightnings were towed to the far side of the airfield and a couple of weeks later were all on their bellies with the bset bits removed! Six months later when the Lightnings at Binbrook were getting short of hours, someone asked where the Wattisham Mk3s were hiding? Too late mate!!:ugh:

Gainesy 25th Mar 2010 10:34

Would that be Kenny Everett?:ugh:

ProfessionalStudent 25th Mar 2010 11:13

Sing along now....

WE BUY ANY JAG...... DOT COM
WE BUY ANY JAG,,,,,, DOT COM
etc etc

MATELO 25th Mar 2010 11:16

FFS, isn't there a spare Tonka frame kicking about that they could use?
Yes there is, but I am keeping it until such a time that the tonkas are no longer in service & the MOD what a "taxiable" one.:O
