Royal Airforce One

Wouldn't it be nice to see Il'Presidente coming down the steps of his Own Airforce One..... Get out your crayons and design a colour scheme that would suit a VVIP TriStar.

What_does_this_button_do? 23rd Oct 2001 23:27

Would The Guv be looking after the fleet?

BEagle 23rd Oct 2001 23:36

Blairforce One??

EESDL 23rd Oct 2001 23:45

BliarFarce One??

Wycombe 24th Oct 2001 11:39

Nice to see him flying with 10Sqn the other week, a rare occurence these days....

BEagle 24th Oct 2001 12:17

Which rare occurence? A VC10 being serviceable or the fact that Blair was in it??

Wycombe 24th Oct 2001 16:10

Probably both! - saw a BBC News item once suggesting that our leader didn't like to be seen flying in EGVN's noisiest and finest!

Anyway, no doubt BA are pleased to have the income/kudos/publicity benefit of flying him around in that nice new 777?

Gainesy 24th Oct 2001 18:59

Be even better to see him in opposition.

Whipping Boy's SATCO 24th Oct 2001 20:17

Probably had to go in the VC10 because a 146 would take 3 weeks to get there.

Methinks the Comms fleet needs looking at?

Unwell_Raptor 24th Oct 2001 21:07

I'm sorry that I have said this before on PPRuNe, but:

As the world's 4th biggest economy, and a nuclear power, and the owner of highly effective armed forces, this nation should send its leaders (party not relevant) in a decent modern aeroplane when they travel. Given its UK content it has to be an A340. So why not? Because of the carping idiots in the Press, of course.

Whipping Boy's SATCO 24th Oct 2001 23:58

A Global Express or Gulfstream IV/V would do.

[Edited because I couldn't spell Gilfstroam]

Surely some form of charter aircraft from sleazyJet would be far more appropriate....

A and C 25th Oct 2001 13:04

At the moment you can get a better deal from BA as easy jets aircraft are fully comitted to making money.

sangiovese 25th Oct 2001 16:40

Surprised we haven't thought about getting something on the back of the ASTOR or FSTA projects. But as Unwell_Raptor says the press would never allow it. All those schools and hospitals that could be built....blah. Now I would forego a new aircraft though, if it was a trade for the A40 between Witney and Oxford becoming dual carriageway!

Capt Widebody 25th Oct 2001 17:14

Never mind, A&C, obviously tooooo subtle for ya! :D

Hagbard the Amateur 25th Oct 2001 18:43

Regardless of what aircraft type he flies in, rest assured there will be plenty of spin on the turbines.
