UK Harriers leaving Afghan...

I'm sure some on here already know, but then I'm sure there will be other's for whom this will be interesting, so for you, here, from the font of all unbiased, always-truthful and ever optomistic knowledge

Ministry of Defence | Defence News | Military Operations | IN PICTURES: Harrier heroes leave Afghanistan

As the name suggests....

Well done guys, you've done us proud. Glad you've got through this safely and are bringing everyone home ok.. :ok:

PPRuNeUser0211 28th Jun 2009 07:39

Good work lads, get home safe

ps Carty that's a slab!

Bunker Mentality 28th Jun 2009 19:42

Good show guys, and well done.

Now, OC 1 Sqn, what's this: 'sometimes the last thing they hear is the crack of a missile's sonic boom before it hits' all about? Shome mishtake, surely?

Lusty Thrusty 29th Jun 2009 08:30

Welcome home, and well done for doing such a great job supporting the guys on the ground.

Now, be fair, supersonics aren't something of a JFH specialist subject.. ;);)

dagowly 29th Jun 2009 14:20

will be drinking in the mess with them tonight :ok:

BrakingStop 29th Jun 2009 19:05

Have you not heard of CRV7?

BS

Bunker Mentality 29th Jun 2009 21:55

Yup. They're supersonic. That means they travel faster than sound.

Flap62 30th Jun 2009 07:24

BS,

I think the point being made is - how can you hear the crack of a supersonic missile then be hit by it?

Frankly, I am surprised that OC1 should make such a simple mistake. Standards are dropping, who did his QWI course, oh hang on a minute!!

BrakingStop 30th Jun 2009 18:40

Fair point. I stand corrected. Doh!

helidriver 30th Jun 2009 19:14

Thank you to the Harrier pilots of Afghanistan. You certainly helped saved the day for me whilst I served there. Very comforting to see the TB 'put off' after few CRV-7s were placed on target! :D

Cheers,

h

I'm a civvy hope the intrusion is okay :)

I have seen a few documentries on the guys in afgahnistan, not only the pilots of the harriers but the ground crew and all the challenges they both face.

I for one dont begrudge a penny of my taxes spent on supporting the operation over there - just the presence of a low pass has potentially saved many lives by avoiding conflict by showing a threat of force.

Proud to have you all representing our interests - great job !

Cheers

Glad they all got back safely. A job well done. Apart from the pilot who crashed his harrier onto the runway at Khandahar.:= Muppet.

L J R 24th Jul 2009 22:11

Are they ready to return, the replacement is running low on jets.

I am still trying to find any humorous element in your post. I can't, ergo you are a prat, my friend. :ok:

All the best.
