A History of RAF Sydenham 1939 - 1978
Something different.
While rummaging through my Mother's junk, I came across this book. Rather than try to describe it, I hope a cutting from (I think) the Belfast Telegraph will appear below and explain all. If you want to download this (90 page) book, follow this link. Free File Hosting Made Simple - MediaFire I found it fascinating. A real blast from the past with lots of old names I recognised and many pictures. Of course the title is erroneous, as most of us know it as a RNAY Belfast...... My Mother served there from about 1942 - 1955. My Father, upon his return from the Far East, from 1947 - 1962. Enjoy. P.S. Feel free to copy the link to any Navy forum. http://i214.photobucket.com/albums/c...blue/rafbt.jpg |
Buccs were sent Sydenham for major servicing in the 70s. Only managed a night stop there once to recover one from 'major' to Honington.
