The key to...

We've all heard the hoary old chestnut "flexibility is the key to airpower" more times than we care to recall, but does anyone know whence it originates? When was it first heard and is there a reference to its first use?

Giulio Douhet 1911.

He wrote Rules for the Use of Aeroplanes in War.

Although rules and flexibility do seem at odds with each other!

Coo, what you remember from Air Warfare Classroom days!!

Just a shame that so many of our leaders seem to work on the corollary that "indecision is the key to flexibility". :hmm:

Flexibility is indeed the key to airpower and Indecision is the key to flexibility.
