German UH-1D crashed (Crew ok)
A Luftwaffe UH-1D participating in ex. "Cold Responce 2009" in northern Norway has crashed and rolled today. Crew (4) seen exiting the wreckage them selfs.
Naturally no word on the cause of the accident yet. http://gfx.api.no/image-versions/www...2_2492403m.jpg A/C came down close to the road running from Evenes/ENEV where they where based and Narvik. |
Avisa Nordland are saying that 7 x Spanish soldiers have been injured in an RTA as part of the same ex. :uhoh:
If you like looking at people freezing their nads off, check out the following: "Hemmelig" militærøvelse - an.no Some good shots between #15 - 20 And where are the Brits !!? (There was a Merlin flagging Bodø fri pm, but it was not involved in CR 09) |
And where are the Brits !!? |
with less than 100% support/commitment from many of their so-called NATO allies But I accept your point. |
Calm down airborne.....
And the UK Mod still values a bit of cold weather training, and both the RAF and FAA has participated in ex Clockwork earlier this winter. The Merlin was probably on it's way home. |
C130 chappie

Don't notice many Nothern european helos in Afganistan..................... Again, I conceed that you will not read many books about this lot zapping Terry and his Taliban with hellfire, 20mm, etc - but they are there :ok: |
Some images in Norway during early March. Some UK participants.
Snow Blaze, 6 days @ Bardufoss, Norway, well above the Arcti TJ |
There are several Northern nations who are no less commited than the British.
I also seem to recall one of them transferring 7 Merlins quite willingly when the UK had an urgent requirement. |

All the very best to the crew, hope it's no more than bruised egos...last that crashed was by my predecessor on the Landsberg exchange...Prosit!!

Not entirely sure what your point is there old chap? If I was, then according to 'our' government we have the whole TELIC / HERRICK thing covered with no problem and anybody who says different is just a right wing defeatist @rse trying to score cheap points off nuuu labour and "not my fault" Brown. Should this be the case* then the point was merely curiosity as to why UK PLC was not involved in the Ex bundled into a rhetorical question. * IMHO not quite.... |
