Heard from other site that crew are safe , thats gr8 news just no word yet on any other possible injuries

I see from the BBC News on-line that 'Harrier jets on the island train for search and rescue operations'! I suppose it was the juxtaposition of 84 Sqn and the Harrier on the same page that confused the poor dears but really they just make it up as they go along, don't they?

I don't care what Service the pilot was in, I'm just glad they are safe. I am glad that another member of support staff (SAC or whoever) was able to get a trip in a T-bird, shame it didn't end as expected , but at least they got a trip!!

Why do people have to find fault....A pilot (don't care who) ejected safely with A pax (don't care who, but glad opportunity on T-bird wasn't wasted) both got out safely,....great.


I remember more than one (first female as an example) pax ejecting from a Harrier. It has not and should not stop pax flights when available.


What I do not like is pax flights generated purely for the purpose of pax flying. If the pilot and ac where going to get airborne for a good reason, then fill the seat!!!


I hope both guys (or gals) are pain free and still have an appetite for flying

With regards to filling the back seat of all jets, even with a pax, I agree to a certain extent. The issues arise with the limits imposed on us with pax in the boot. Limits such as no low level, g limits below those often required during a normal traing flight etc. Plus, given the effort by all ranks of a Sqn to get a jet in the air, the trip needs to have real training value each and everytime. To curtail a trip because of an unwell pax is frustrating for everyone. The solution of letting the pax hurl is no good as it trashes the jet and the morale of the poor sod in the boot. It sucks, but pax trips are always more likely to be generated by the squadron for reasons of morale or reward. Enjoy them when you get them as you've probably earnt the privilage.

As ex-ground crew who manage 2 back seat trips and a side by side one I can say It made me feel good about it. Many years later I still bore my work collegues stiff with tales of daring do over the Malvern hills in a T4.

Pax Flight?
 
Could the 'Pax' have been a 'techie' being on the flight for a very good reason? Remember, an SAC is an Advanced Tradesman today, the same as the old Junior Technician. In which capacity I did several air tests. Albeit not in A/C with bang seats.

JagRigger, I would imagine that Witt SES and the plumbers would share it as they are in the same 'hutch'. Or the squips will nick it...:ok:
