Chinook wing: Best Unit
I m surprised it has not made the board yet.
Well done the Chinook wing for winning best unit for its effort over the last year in Afghanistan (and since 2006 as well) at the Sun Military Awards. It was humbling to see soldiers who are the REAL heroes in all of this standing to applaud the Chinook personel. Impressive pictures of the chinook hit by an RPG. Well done the crew for bringing this one home.:D PS: Obviously with my name I am 100% biased :E |
Well done all, shows how joint we are when and ex AAC bloke accepts the award.:ok:
|
Didn't see it, but wholeheartedly agree with the award, challangeing flying in dificult circumstances completed with the best of professionalism. Who did accept the award?
Well done one and all at Odiham |
Well done to the boys and girls of JSFAW and JHF(A)
A pleasure to work with at all times Congrats and fly safe. |
I dont think the background of the guy accepting the award matters much. He's a good guy anyway, but was accepting the award on behalf of the whole team at Odiham.
|
Totally agree, 100%, no jibe - just light hearted before we go off on one.
He is a good friend as are many of them, well done all, you have worked hard for it. |
Thought it was a good show - thought-provoking and highly emotional at times.
I'm afraid the name is just silly though, and trivialises the event to some extent. |
As ever, absolute respect to all Chinook mates for doing a truly spectacular job under the most demanding of conditions (see below re the Musa Qala incident in May 2008); this was a thoroughly deserved award.
http://www.flightglobal.com/articles...k-chinook.html Thanks to all on 18 and 27 that I've been lucky enough to fly with this year - albeit under more benign conditions; always a privilege! :D |
And to re-inforce the jointery - a Dark Blue mate was recently at the Palace to collect a DFC awarded for his actions while sitting in the RHS of a Wokka.
|
For those of you that have done well....well done
|
Thanks for the link Right Chopper, nice video.
It was always bloody impressive to see the guys bring the wokka onto the IRT Helipad, most of them came screaming in. Thoughts were always with the guys in the back needing help & if nothing else, I was certain that you were doing everything you could to get on the deck ASAP. :D Respect to you all, have a great, safe Christmas. |
Thanks for the link. Very well deserved to all. I look back on my military time with a mix of emotions, but seeing things like this award ceremony reminds what a really tough job these guys are still doing day in day out, and it is great to see some recognition at last. Well done.
|
Good to c the guys on the front line getting recognition for all the hard and un published work they do :ok:
|
Many many congratulations to all at Odi and those on deployment, for a well deserved award. Nice to see awards for people other than the celebrities for once!
Stay safe and a Merry Christmas to all. |
Good to see JHSU getting a look in. A much overlooked unit in my opinion.
|
Good to see that one of our sleepers accepted the award so graciously! :E
Well done all. |
May I also add my sincere congratulations to all in receipt of the award. Without doubt, it is thoroughly deserved.
Bravo, one and all. :D:D:D:D:D:D Brian |
Congrats to all, didn't realise Frenchy had joined JHSU (watch the video)!

Congrats to all, didn't realise Frenchy had joined JHSU |
Always puzzled me how the RPG gunner knew he was French. |
