The Typhoon was diving on a "high angle strafe" during a training run when it shot past a Hawker Siddeley 125 coming into land at an airport in Humberside, investigators said.
It happened at an altitude of 8,000ft over the Donna Nook bombing range, when the fighter jet was travelling at about 500mph. The aircraft closed to 75 metres or 240ft.
The UK Airprox Board, which investigates near-misses between aircraft, graded the incident as Category A, meaning "an actual risk of collision existed".
In the report into the near-miss, one air traffic controller was recorded to have said afterwards: "That Typhoon just nearly took out my traffic." Another controller added: "I looked up and they were **** close."
The report said: "The board agreed that this had been a most serious occurrence.
"Members agreed unanimously that there had been an actual risk that the aircraft would have collided."
The Typhoon is the Royal Air Force's newest fighter aircraft, costing more than £130 million each.
It has not been disclosed how many people were on the HS125 during the near-miss in March.

So either Typhoon pilots don't know where Donna Nook is, or HS 125 pilots don't know where Humberside Airport is!
More detail required before passing a verdict methinks!

soo was wondering what a civilian aircraft was doing over a active bombing range?

A couple of questions:

What would the miss distance have been if the HS125 had complied with ATC instructions?

What type of service was the HS125 under crossing an active danger area?

TCAS not designed for Class G airspace.
