APC 343 Who's still flying?

Was wondering, of the guys on my pilot course back in the early 90's, who is still flying and where? Some names that spring to mind are Marc Daffy, Carl Tierney, Andy Lambert, Ian McClelland, Ian Ross, Sam Rutherford, Lt Mark?McGintey. Just curious as to who has ended up still in the industry after 15+ years. I'm still at it with Bristow in Oz.

WASALOADIE 28th Oct 2008 22:58

Mark Daffy

Mark Daffy, if its the same one jumped ship to the RAF a while ago and after a tour at Shawbury is now on Chinooks at Odiham, not sure which Sqn though.

Tell you what everybody lets start to name people who fly military helicopters at
Odiham shall we?:ugh:

taxydual 28th Oct 2008 23:10

May as well name names. The National Press does, the Local Press does, the BBC and ITN does, MoD does, the Station Magazine does..............................

I hear what you say (what an awful phrase) 1.4G, but, alas, it's no longer a state secret.

Personal details to a minimum.

Lets keep the names, sqn's and places to a minimum guys. :ok:

Unless I've got it totally wrong (not unheard of, especially at this time of the evening) I heard a rumour that Lt McGintey is now a Lt Col. Only worked for him briefly, but a good boss.

Mister-T 29th Oct 2008 10:58

I was on 343 and am still about, pm me for any further details.

Deneb 29th Oct 2008 15:32

Met MD at Silverstone this year, he had left the 'Mob' and was flying for the 'Staffordshire Air Force' on S76's.

Thanks for the replies. Mightygem, registered today. "Sprog", made me laugh out loud. Haven't been called that for a while!
Cheers Floats. :)

Sorry to go off topic in this thread, however, I can't help but notice that everytime I browse a thread "1.4G" always has something stupid to say.

As you are naming roles of people I would like to quote "1.4G" in a PM he sent me once "I now work as a store manger for Aldi and am doing very nicely at it." - Hope I don't end up there after my time in service...

Stop your tedious comments please.

Still about!

I'm still flying (civil) - and mostly fixed wing. Brought my Maule back across the pond with Mike McG back in July.

Pete C. still flying (civil) occasionally (fixed wing).

Heard that bicycle repair man is now with crabs and doing well.

Pete R. is flying for the airlines somewhere.

Andy L. is still in, saw him last about a year ago.

I think surfer boy got a commission in the RM.

I'll email those I have contacts for and get them to post themselves!

'later, Sam.

PS not bothered about my name showing!

PPS currently doing an R44 type rating with Jamie M. in Mallorca!

Mister-T 30th Oct 2008 09:07

Good to hear that guys have made a full career of it and other have been successful in civvy street after 'serving' their time.
343 guys PM me to catch up.
Sam, who was the bicycle repair man?
The Slug.

Sam Rutherford 31st Oct 2008 17:44

Hi T!

Take a look at www.capaxis.com - we've just finished cleaning the Dutch Ministry of Finance as it happens!

But it's not as fun as the other stuff!

Hi Rids, good to hear you're still alive!

Bicycle Repair Man - Gus Ailsworth (I think - was a Sgt on the course, and pretty much the only one who actually listened to any of the ground-school!). My photo of the 'Baldies' is at home (I'm not there at the moment).

I have forwarded this thread to Mike McG, Pete C and Andy L.

Sam.
