Low flying has certainly been quiet around this area for a while but we did get a few passes on Thursday.

Cheers,

Mark

Fantastic shots.

Thanks Mark, some cracking shots, certainly brightened up my day sitting in the office here in Hong Kong.

certainly brightened up my day sitting in the office here in Hong Kong.
Bugger, life must be so dull in HK? More so than it is here in Broken Britain

MightyGem 11th Oct 2008 09:25

Thanks for those, Mark. When's the next video due out?? :ok:

TEEEJ 17th Oct 2008 13:00

Top work, Mark. I really like the Hawk close-up.

:D

helidriver 18th Oct 2008 09:14

which lens?

mark,

spotters question for you. which lenses are you using (focal length, aperture size etc)?

fantastic phots mate.

cheers,

h

Zoom 18th Oct 2008 09:40

And my spotter's question is: are you using auto or manual focus? They are pin-sharp shots.

Culio 18th Oct 2008 10:13

Great shots, where were these taken?

I ask because I saw some Hawks flying around in Snowdonia on Thursday...

Anyway, congrats on some phenomenal pictures :ok:

markjayne 18th Oct 2008 11:08

Thanks for the comments guy's :ok:

I use a Nikon D300 dSLR and a Nikon 300mm f2.8 prime lens. If I need a little extra reach I use a x1.4 teleconverter which turns the 300mm f2.8 lens in to a 420mm f4. I always use auto focus.

All shots taken from Cad West which is part of the Mach Loop. This is located just south of Dolgellau, Mid Wales. I've more info on my site www.rcflights.co.uk

Cheers,

Mark

Well we might well have seen the same jets!

We did hear several rumbling around that day, including some large ones (which I guess was the Herc).

But we were doing river studies lol, so I couldn't admire them all day!

PPRuNeUser0211 19th Oct 2008 13:58

GBZ - the second hawk belongs to the medics...

Culio 19th Oct 2008 14:02

Maybe he's clinging on for dear life!

Mactlsm1 20th Oct 2008 01:22

Great shots,
I am jealous at not being able to get there - at least for a couple of years. LOVE the shot of Albert, all of the shots are nice and sharp.....but and there always is a but, why did you B&W the Typhoon. Personally (I know) it takes all of the interest away for me. If you shot it in colour would you mind putting it up in colour - just for me!

Nuts

Incredible Hawk shots!

Thanks!

dead_pan 20th Oct 2008 20:02

Don't let plod see the first Hawk piccie - the chap in the front seat is on his mobile. I can clearly read his registration as well.:uhoh:

Great pics though.

Another technical question Mark - do you use the Nikon's 'burst' function when shooting the aircraft as they fly past, then simply pick out the best shots?
