Wellies On Again.
.... er, well, .... you been to Kabul in January?

Vim_Fuego 1st Jul 2008 18:39

I have to say I've been really impressed by the Airshow FM radio station that has sprung up over the past couple of days (or at least thats when I noticed the banner and tuned it in).

Now Lincolnshire isn't blessed with the best in local radio to start with but these people who I think are sitting in the old ATC tower are giving Linc's FM a run for their money.

Goodness knows how much it costs to pay royalties for all the songs they play, the gear and the license to transmit but all in all, and I don't say this very often, well done!

Good advice, 3P. I shall be in the beer tent and the food tent. If you meet my old mate R*y T****s in the 44 (Rhodesia) Sqn beer tent do buy him a drink. :ok:

if we all say pretty please will the greeks put one of their phantoms up?
j79s in full reheat, now THATS entertainment:ok:

exscribbler 1st Jul 2008 22:41

And it would get me out of the beer tent PDQ! It's nearest we'll get to an F-4K these days. :ok: But do not underestimate the power of a Vulcan to empty any kind of tent...

50+Ray 2nd Jul 2008 05:42

Regards to all of my era in the 44(Rhodesia) beer tent Three Putt. Currently looking at 700m vis in thck dust and nearly 40C. Maybe in a couple of years...

The latest is that the Greeks F-4s are not attending the airshow.

BBC Central News had an interview with the Head of Engineering who reckoned that 558 would be going on static.

Last time I saw the Greek F4 at RIAT, you could smell the AVGAS 100 yards away, there were trays underneath to catch the leaks, and all the other aircraft were parked a respectable distance away

Not surprising if they'd filled it with 'AVGAS'....

Airshow FM

Vim
When I was at Waddo a few years back, Airshow FM was run and equipped by Lincs FM (or may have been BBC Lincolnshire), so any royalties were paid for that way. They saved money by using volunteer DJs (a guy from the Waddo Kart club was one)
That way, you have broadcasters who at least have some knowledge of what's going on rather than the usual coverage of all things military.

It's going to p*ss down, ergo crap vis, no flying and no light at the end of the tunnel. Anyone anything positive to say?

Guess who turned up today?

Climebear 3rd Jul 2008 20:14

What a great sight.

And for those of us who don't like living that close to the Equator, she'll hopefully be at Leuchars on 13 September too.

exscribbler 5th Jul 2008 19:33

And the weather improved - so why did I worry? Incidentally, 558 emptied every tent for miles around merely by taxying out. :ok:
