us removes nukes, napalm, phosphorus, du rounds, cluster bombs etc etc, and next in the chain ' big sharp pointy shells'. they can kill people apparently:eek:

Q: does anyone in this esteemed forum know what the procedure is for disposing of surplus nukes - I imagine the casing could be scrapped/melted down/recycled, but could the glow-in-the-dark stuff be processed for use in reactors or similar? If not, do I really want to know where they dump/bury it?

weapons grade uranium is expensive and invariably at the top of the recycling tree - reduce and reuse :)

Have to say that I found the above (Milennial Files) link very reassuring, it is hard to imagine how more care could be taken over this important business, though even this generally level-headed review contained the usual irrational twaddle about the place being under a "flight path", and of course no explanation of the apparently associated, implied and imaginary "risk" was given.

Good, useful background info. Thanks.
