When I was last fitted for a helmet (the newer issue dark gray one-don't know the model #) if I remember correctly, they had to heat a liner, put it in the helmet, you put the helmet on, then they put a heavy donut weight on the helmet. You kept the helmet on for 5-10 minutes. I was told this was to avoid hot spots. Also, if I remember correctly they came in sm, med, lg and Xlg.
Seems like my helmet was always turning up cracked, for no reason, during the annual inspection-so do not buy anything surplus!

p.s. That was with Uncle Sam's AF.

The ones I posted as Surplus are acctually overhauled if you read the site to a servicable state.... you may have to replace your jackplugs etc, we had a couple of L39's here we initially operated and I seem to remember they used Russian helmets due to the connectors

You'd have to check the Comms connections on the seat or PEC (long tube thing with metal base that provides oxygen and comms to the wearer) to make sure it's compatible with the NATO downlead. If you need any help, PM me, or post pics here and I'll get back to you.:ok:
