Hawk Crash At NFTC
2205 Z this aft, 1 x Hawk CT-155 crashed short of the runway at CYMJ.

Notice how the story links 3 "deadly" crashes over the previous 13 years to demonstrate how reckless the RCAF truly are - it's almost like operating warfighting equipment might have some risks. Clearly the sloppy, idle, "build a drama from a crisis" journalism DNA is global. If only there were more Orphanages and Nuclear Power plants in Saskatchewan, this story might have got the coverage it deserved.

Both are fine, stud had a mangled arm which has been fixed. No word on cause but obviously engine focused. Hawks still not flying so Harvard’s can now fly uninterrupted without the persistent whining on the radios!:}

It has been confirmed that the cause was an LP blade 'failure'.
Several cases of it happening in the last 12 months to the Hawk 115. QFI has crushed vertabrae (sp ?) from the bang seat, and the stude has a dislocated/broken arm from his heavy 'chute landing. So, no flying for a while..... We'll just have to sit around listening to those crap 'strimmers' whining away all day long. Props are for boats, SaudiPC9..... |

Indian Air Force Hawk Crashes
NEW DELHI: IAF lost one of its newly inducted British Hawk AJTs (advanced jet trainers) on Tuesday afternoon when it crashed soon after taking off from the Bidar airbase in Karnataka. "Barely seconds after liftoff, there was apparently some technical snag. One pilot ejected, while the other came down with the aircraft. Fortunately, none of them was seriously injured," said an official. |

One of 10 BAE-manufactured Hawks to have been put into service at Bidar air base in February, the aircraft suffered extensive damage following an aborted take-off on 29 April, according to air force sources quoted in the Indian media. One crew member ejected from the aircraft, while the other escaped after it came to a rest on the runway, according to a Times of India report. "Sources in Air Hqs, said that the main problem has to do with certain parts like the undercarriage and the pilot-static tube - it gives the pilots feedback on airspeed and altitude - that were found to be rusted and unusable." .....
