The venerable Sea King

Fear God.
Honour the King. |
Excellent.
Bonus points for identifying this one........ http://i214.photobucket.com/albums/c...ue/seaking.jpg |

No! But vintage wise you're close. Hint - you'll never see the MoD admitting to this one. Too embarrassing.
|
Is it a cut-and-shut?
|
Something to do with the Boscombe Down Dynamic Rollover Demonstrator?!!!!

Looks like an ASaC Mk 7 - no radar on top. The Searchwater radar is on the opposite side of the fuselage and is raised in the shot above.

Replacement for the 2 we sadly lost in 2003?

Photo taken on 14th January 2000.

OK tucumseh, we give up. What’s the story?
|
How about:
'Today, 14 January 2000, at Boscombe Down, the first flight of the new* Sea King ASaC Mk7.' *new: no way would we admit that this particular aircraft first flew in late '69, has over 10,000hrs on it and is already older than some of the crew flying it. Not sure if that is embarrassing or not given its supposed OSD! |
This is a wild one... but it wasn't originally an Argie cab was it?
|
If it was an ex-Argie cab, then that has been kept quiet for over 25 years!
Is is an HU.5? |
Nah, s'obvious innit, its one of them Mk 3 Chinooks after they corrected all the faults.
