:}With JPA now paying us by the year rather than by the day I guess Friday 29th Feb 08 will be the first day in 32 years of service that I work for free!

I suppose I could take unpaid leave!

I wonder if the MOD saves enough money to buy some new kit?

That's all right then. So we are paid a quarter of the day at 2005 rates, a quarter at 2006 rates..etc.:hmm:

Great, we get paid 365.25 days a year, but what if we leave before we have served 4 years since JPA came in??? Surely that would mean for someone leaving this year, then leaving say on the 1st of April, they will ave been underpaid by a quarter of a day surely?

An Admin guru told me.......This was the case as the JPA-chaps multiplied your daily pay by 365 and then divided it by 12 to get the monthly pay we get now. However this missed out the 'extra' leap year day so they changed they methods and multiple the daily rate by 365.25.......Or so I understand. Does not mean though we can only work for a 1/4 of today though!!

Looking on the bright side, though, you should be looking forward to the year 2100; it won’t be a leap year, but you will still get the “extra” ¼ day’s pay, so don’t be in too much of a rush to PVR. :hmm:

...and every so often around once per (unknown years - in october ), they adjust the time by adding around a second for other precesion and celestial aberations too. ....It all adds up you know!...Oh my god I know some useful Cra*p!...

Which is why GPS time is not quite the same as GMT/UTC/Zulu, as them there atomic clocks were set running in 1984(ish) and haven't been adjusted since...

Coz he's a smart cookie keeps it at home and drives his snowplough all year and pays no road tax:E

Ok, so you get paid only 1/4 of a day on Leap Years but you will get 1 day's worth of flying pay (assuming that you're entitled to it). Remember that flying pay is an allowance, as is Home to Duty, and is paid at a daily rate, hence all my monthly pay statements are different - what a great idea the 365.25 days a year/12 was then !!! :}
