I am mindfull of a couple of comments made by army guys, when waiting for a C130 to arrive at their pick up point.

"God thats an ugly airplane" says one.

Son says his WO, that can be the most beautiful sight you can ever see.

When you are pinned down somewhere, and your only chance to get out is to be picked up, and the C130 comes in, in spite of the weapons firing, in spite of the fact that she is more vunerable than you.

When you are lying on the ground, with your life is slipping away, and your only chance to live and see your kids and wife again, lies in this airplane and its crew taking you away, then you will know what beauty really is.

The story is true, I cannot think how many of us today, are here because of this airplane and its crews are true. Thousands owe their lives to this airplane and the devotion of its crews.

If you think that thousands is too high, think again.

I am proud to have served with her, and am saddened that sometimes that sometimes people have been taken from us.

KAM I often think of you, and your bravery, and the fine man that Paul was. I also suspect that your Dad is very proud of his girl.

They may be gone, but not forgotten.

I was flying the last Albert to land that day. I also flew the herc nearest the crowd line at RIAT when we did the missing man. I have a photo of DW at work with me in Sierra Leone, it took me a long time to find but if you have any contact details for Mrs W I would like her to have a copy.

I can barely believe what I have just watched. I see this video as a tacky, amateurish insult to the fine men who died. Whoever cobbled it together could not be bothered to write the men's names and ranks correctly and even did the same with aircraft name. If someone is going to tap into the emotions of the many people affected by this tragedy he or she should at least make the effort to get the basics right. Shame on him or her.

I've just stumbled across the video and was moved by it. I was a co on 24 and a captain on 70, at Lyneham from 1980-1988, I flew 179 many times and am enormously proud to have been part of the Albert fraternity, the Falklands having been my 'finest hour' on the Herk. I am not a religious man but I hope that the crew who were lost are with their god and are at peace.

each to their own zoom, the fact that the effort has been made and people remember is comfort that cannot be expressed because believe you me sometimes the aftermath of this all can leave you so devastated and feeling isolated that any sign that you are not alone is of immense comfort.

Kam, I have just seen your son's excellent Hercules, the best Budgie ever, and large enough it would seem for your son to climb into to finish the interior to the same high standard! Has your kitchen recovered yet? What better way for him to express his own special remembrance? Well done indeed. :D

Hello just to answer your question about Richie ...I beleave he was on flight system at cosford back in the 80s I remember him coming home and telling us about the running track there . I cant tell you where he went after that but he never stayed in one place for too long ..I hope this helps ......The proud brother of Richard Brown ....Guy Brown

The timing is about right, shortly before Bruggen IIRC. A good guy. Had a night in Tenerife with him circa 2000? I think he carried me home.

As for Bob, I carried him back to the Hilton on Cocoa Beach, from the Irish Bar in the retail park nearly opposite, another good guy.
