Low-level, July, Wales

I made a visit to the low-fly routes in Wales last week. My main interest was to catch the A-10s. Thanks guys/girls for the great show through the Bwlch.

Wow, are they all tour own pics?

Ali Barber 29th Jul 2007 14:41

Great photos!

Bwlch? Surely that's a typo!!!!:ok:

TEEEJ 29th Jul 2007 16:33

Thanks. Yes all my own. They were taken with a fairly cheap digital. I'm just about to upgrade to a professional camera.

It is a great way to see aircraft close-up and photograph them. At this location you never know what will come around the corner.

The A-10 of the 81st FS had tipped off enthusiasts of the days that they would come through. The pilots were after images of their time spent in the UK.

Some A-10 images that I took last week.

Who needs an SA7, a couple of well placed Al Qaida members with catapults could take one of them. :8

maxdrypower 30th Jul 2007 17:37

yeh the first pic , i would definately say was an F3

The quality of these lowfly images is excellent, you guys must be very patient to stay on those hillsides as long as you do, with very little action some times, unless you count the sheep:D

We are getting a bit fed up with Hawks, can someone Photoshop a B2 or something?:8

First class mate, well done! :ok:

TEEEJ 31st Jul 2007 11:31

Thanks guys! Long hours yes, but well worth the wait. Ipod, folding chair and plenty of grub and the hours soon pass.

Some from yesterday. The Indian Hawks were out to play and the A-10s came back through.

Was disappointed to see one of my flight-mates from IOT took that bunch of speed-camera fuzz over a while back;) Good on him though, sure he'll look the right way for me:)

What a cracking set of photos. Well done! :D

Awesome pics! Thank you!

Can anyone tell me what the A-10 is carrying on the port outboard pylon? The others seem to be a pair of 'winders on a dual carrier, and a maverick each on the inboard pylons....

Hi Bombay Duck, it's a jamming pod - but now I've told you, I'll have to kill you (especially after the last test match....)

BombayDuck 2nd Aug 2007 06:40

Thanks, Mr. Mauser, but can we wait till the Oval test, please? That way either it will be 1-1 and you wont want to kill me, or it will be 1-0/2-0 and I can die a happy man! :ok:

TEEEJ 2nd Aug 2007 06:51

Thanks Bombay.

The pod is an AN-ALQ-131 Jammer pod

The 'Sidewinder' with the spike on it is a pod for the USAFE Rangeless Instrumentation Training System
