RAF Anti-G Trousers
 

Hello...
I was wondering if any of you FJ pilots could help me. I have a pair of Anti-G Trousers (Mk2A dated 2001) as part of a collection as was just wondering a few things about them.
*What do you put in all those pockets?
*In the pocket for the Cutter, what is the roll of string for?
*What are the two strings on the back for? (between the mesh cloth?)

Also, do the RAF issue silk liners for the Pearl Flying Gloves? If not when would you use them

Just as you would put string on your childs gloves during the chilly wrath of winter, to prevent said 'tot' losing the their little mitts, the string is to prevent the loss of the cutter during times of acute stress in a tricky situation.

You may even find traces of a Mars bar in the bottom right pocket.

The string is actually 47lb nylon which is attached to the aircrew cutter which enables it to be connected to the aircrew at all times so it isn't lost.

no mars unfortunately... guess whoever last used these got hungry!

I also should be getting a Mk.3A Helmet. Anyone tell me much about that?

It goes on your head:8. Before you ask Gloves go on your hands (green ,white and black) , boots on your feet.
The flying coverall covers your body apart from the feet, hands and head, hence the need for boots, gloves and a helmet. You put it on by unzipping the zip on the front and stepping into it putting your arms into the arm things up near the collar.:{

You forgot the other vital checks. Ensure pecker secure (male) or lumpy bits stowed (female).

Scorcher - what else do you have in your collection of trousers? Am sure I have an old pair of loon pants I could donate if you want.

well i've a flightsuit, anti-g trousers, gloves and should be getting an immersion suit soon... well any donations are welcome! :)

and by telling me about the helmet I was talking about how the mask connects e.t.c.

Aha, a trick question because the Mk.3A was fitted with a boom mike for helicopter and light aircraft applications. :=

And if it suddenly goes dark when you put the helmet on, you've got it back-to-front.
