Presentation of the new 5 Sqn Standard

Yesterday (6 Jun), I was lucky enough to be amongst the guests at the Presentation Ceremony of a new Standard to 5 (AC) Sqn by CAS. Although I've never really been into drill (I always preferred mixing margaritas to marching), the parade was absolutely excellent - a very polished event that had clearly taken a lot of practice and whilst it sticks in my throat to say it (given the pilot), the Sentinel flypast also was spot-on (-ish) and very impressive. Additionally, the Hurricane display as the Standard was marched-off was outstanding. May I offer my thanks to all the personnel on 5 who had clearly worked so hard to make the day the fantastic success that it was. It was truly memorable and my very best wishes to you all as you continue to bring into operational service the ASTOR system.

On the subject of no.5 Sqn,

A big thanks to the crew of the Sentinel over Stornoway today, good to see a different looking aircraft over the airfield. The final steep turn before departing made my day!
