Hi,

Oops - sorry it should have been abbotyobs read your PM!!:)

I think it was a good idea to relax the QSP and hour requirements for AEF flying. If the holding officer has the required flying skills then its a great PR tool for the cadets to see a young pilot flying them.
|
but any shag with a PPL can fly the same cadet in a Grob motor glider The 'shags' you refer to who fly air cadets in the Air Cadet motor gliders are pilots qualified in accordance with the appropriate military regulations, administered and standardised by Air Cadet Central Gliding School and CFS. Not all PPLs make the grade in the Air Cadet Organisation for the award of the appropriate qualification. London Mil, didn't you qualify? ;) |
The bar you say? I guess a formal complaint could get pretty expensive... Best I see you there then! ;)
|
Actually Stoppers, I'm going to be in "your" bar on the 30th. Dorset & Wilts Wing Air Training Corps annual din-dins.
|
Best I swing by and ensure that the very highest standards are maintained then.....
|
civi pilots at AEFs
two are at Glasgow AEF,trained by GUAS QFI and tested by CFS
|
Rumour has it that in the not too distant future there will be just 3 "super" AEFs, and that the locations of 2 of the 3 has already been decided.

Ah! As suspected. I guess they must also be RAFVR(T)? It would be interesting to hear how GUAS/4 AEF managed to get dispensation to train these guys up when the feeling on the thread is that the criteria remains QSP/ex QSP and "winged" holding officers all the way. I guess they must be pretty experienced CPL/ATPL holders with an FI rating to have even been considered? Feel free to PM if you would rather continue the discussion in private! :ok: |

SS, believe me, I've seen some very ropey 'shags' flying air cadet. I probably still wouldn't make the grade.
