"My post The late Wing Commander Hutchins has been closed without the question being answered, have I done something wrong?"

The Mod's may then have taken pity, deleted this thread and re instated your original............remember bandwidth is precious:ok:

I only got 3 replies and they all drew a blank, so how is that question answered?
I'm only trying to find the last resting place of my old instructor. I thought "we all" cared about that sort of thing, but I must be wrong.

As for precious bandwidth - if it's so precious, why does the forum have a MINIMUM post length? This requires us to wibble to fill half a dozen characters when a simple "yes" would do the job on occasion.

What has annoyed me about my post situation is that I am asking for any help about something that means a lot to me. Yet there are posts that go on for ever, and for no real reason.

As one or two have already said, you had an answer, and it looked a pretty sure thing. When that happens the mods usually close threads.

It is a fact that they wouldn't have known one way or the other whether you were successful, but it did look positive.

I'd stop whingeing and ask if the original thread can be re-opened if I were you.

228OCU - not sure if this will help in any way, but...
The Times carried a short item on 17 April 1973 stating the BOI into the crash had been set up. It gave Wg Cdr Hutchings' (spelling in the Times) address as being in Bedford. Hopefully this may clarify the date and a possible location for his burial (although the latter is obviously something of a long shot)?
