Anyone found the flares?

Local BBC in RAF Lincolnshire are reporting the loss of 4 boxes of flares during a helicopter night-ex near Grantham! How careless.

Ah.. I thought you were talking about my slacks, from a bag I lost on detachment in the '70s. :p

Given the accuracy of media reporting this could have been lost from either of the services' aircraft, indeed any type of aircraft. Are they sure it wasn't out of the back of a wagon? :cool:

Best to give it loads of publicity so the residents of Lincolnshire can get out and search for their free New Year's Eve ordinance.

"But you said drop the flares Boss":}

The locals ought to be pleased; flares are generally considered to be the height of sartorial elegance down there, are they not?

Schermuly someone has found them by now? I was going to say that someone needs a rocket up their a£$&...but then I remembered the Army already tried that one recently....

I liked the bit about the flares being " not dangerous---but very flammable" :confused: A top journo career beckons for this scribe then ! :E

That said, would anybody have any valid objections to Grantham being incinerated at all ?----seems a reasonable proposition and nobody would actually miss the place----would they ?

"nobody would actually miss the place----would they ?"

Uniquely, I was very grateful to see Grantham t'other week. Doing an Air Ambo spinal transfer in an ancient Bo105 down to Cambridge, the weather was complete harry clampers at Peterborough. Fortunately Grantham was completely within weather limits (said without a hint of a smile), so our unfortunate occupant was decanted into a land ambulance at the hospital HLS for onward transfer. Thank goodness for towns in shallow valleys.
