And there was me thinking I was being helpful identifying it as a URITS pod on the previous page! It's definately not a RAIDS pod which as far as I know has never been flown on an F-15. Very confusing the proliferation of these AIS (Airborne Instrumentation Sub-system) pods: ACMI, RAIDS, URITS, KITS, ACT-R, NACTS, ACTS with BGT, EHUD, MLM, P4 series, etc, etc the list goes on.

I recall someone telling me there were nine different systems, not like NATO to fail to get to grips with a standard system! Still, preferable to being stuck in a bubble over the North Sea I suppose.

It's not a RAIDS pod is it?

Sorry, couldn't resist.

Chris Kebab,

Sorry m8, didn't see your reply.

Must have been distracted by some cracking pictures :)

Stuff, just about to dive in with the same comment, but noticed the weathering on the tailplane. Solves a mystery for me, as I thought it may have been due to the airflow off the tanks.

Awesome Ricko.
Didn't realise the F15 was steam powered though!

Pity the poor sod hanging on under the wings and shovelling coal into it then.

If that's what it takes, i'll do it.
Ricko.

I recommend the lager and deep fried Mars bar diet. Two weeks on that and you'll pass for Boris Johnson easy, right down to the 36DDs.

Back from the States last week.
Not as good as Wales with the Eagle but a few nice images just the same.

Blue Angels phot - 2 x 2 -seaters in the 4-ship. Oh and they are both number 7. Rather odd isnt it?

RICKO 6th Nov 2006 09:53

Faithless.
Will have a look and let you know.

Well spotted.

The two 2 seaters were used on the friday during the practices for media rides, i believe.
We got a ride in the Fat Albert on the friday afternoon during it's practice display.

Ricko.

Does anyone know what the F-15 markings indicate, left-side upper intakes, forward? Looks like an elongated shovel.

diginagain 8th Nov 2006 10:02

I'm no expert on the type, but could it be the refuelling recepticle?

Got it in one, sir. 'Tis the refueling recepticle marking.

diginagain 8th Nov 2006 10:06

Very kind, Sir. Thought it would have to be there or thereabouts, since there's a hulking great airbrake on the spine, isn't there?
