Am I missing something??

Watching the nightly news I am somewhat confused. I keep hearing that UK troops in Afghanistan are involved in yet another push against the "Insurgents" or have beaten off another huge attack by "Insurgents" and yet, despite being in the age of modern high speed communications, we continue to see the same old imagery. There's the Chinook, low level and high speed across the same peice of countryside filmed from the rear ramp. There's the same 2 para's firing GPMGs on a rooftop. The same Apache firing a couple of bursts of 30mm, the same soldiers running through a dusty courtyard around the same dusty walls and the same column of black smoke rising from the same grove of trees
I don't doubt that there is some serious sh!t going on out there as the list of casualties is sadly growing. I hear from former colleagues tales of daring do and yet the media seem to be limited to the same stock images.
Are there no embedded journos? Is Phoney Tony too scared of what Joe Public might see or is he just waiting until next May when he can shift all the blame on to his hapless replacement.

Thank god there are very few journo's out there. Thanks to equipment levels the blokes on the ground already have one hand tied behind their back, there is no need to render the other one useless as well.

Do you think perhaps that the BBC has worked out that it's firking hairy out there, and that the Paras don't really need a trio of civvies to protect?

Can't see lardy Paul Wood spending 20+ days in a fortified farmhouse with incoming 24/7 - where would he get his nightcap? :E
