F3 @ Gloucester

Thanks to the crew of 'Chariot 1' at Gloucester today for a couple of over-shoots. Nice to see something different for a change. You should have tried a couple of rollers!:}

Really?.........why's that then? Do tell!!!!;)

Don't know if it's still the same, but you didn't used to get charged any landing fees if you didn't touch the runway. Did some low overhoots/go arounds at Lydd airport many moons ago. Seemed like the right thing to do after a White Cliffs tour courtesy of Manston ATC. Still got the video from my backseater who filmed the whole thing (thanks Capt Gadget).

It is still the same.

You're charged landing fees when the wheels touch the tarmac.

Having said that, I've also done touch and gos and not been charged for the privilege! (Thanks Prestwick!) So it's not black and white.

I think flying the little adour with 2 seats may help, I'm not sure you would get such an understanding Airport ops manager if you practiced your touch and gos in your new A380.

But such is life eh?

Seem to remember that Prestwick (mid 90's) was always happy to provide a free "roller" for mil aircraft, because it made them look busier than they actually were, and is possibly the reason they are still open now and not closed down a long time ago.

Interesting to hear that Prestwick were being hospitable to some. In those same mid nineties, they introduced (unilaterally) a scheme of charging BAe Flying College & other resident organisations on a scale which included, as separate items, take-offs, landings, instrument approaches and visual circuits. By the time the arguments were over & the dust had settled, the College bill was believed to run well into six figures. This was almost certainly a major factor in deciding to move the organisation to Jerez.:ugh:

No, I'd like to reiterate the thanks for the flyby, I was moving my GF into quaters at innsworth at the time, and it gave me a nice break from flat pack furniture building. As an aircrew mate, that place holds a whole world of evils for me.... Now I've got to live there, what the hell is going on??:confused: :ugh: :{ :sad: :eek:
