It will generally involve lots of people who are unfit, claim they are injured or give up halfway through due to false injury.....trying to reach a very easy level at shuttle runs.....And if you fail it, not a problem, doesn't go on any reports, no real comeback, just another unfit person in the airforce!!!

But dont worry, for the girls its even lower.

Ah, the RAF Fatness test.

I take it from the question that you're not a member of HM's Armed Forces yet. I think it's a mandatory item to pass if you want to complete training (all ranks). The RAF got miffed at paying fat lazy gits to sit around during training complaining that their shins ached or they were about to have a heart attack and so made it a part of the selection process.

To pass the Fitness test you'll need to be avaragely fit (let's say a 7 minute mile, 30 sit-ups in a minute and 20 press-ups). If you're not able to do this, you'll be invited to stop eating all the pies and come back later when you're less of a burden on the fragile NHS.

Oh dear, here we go again . . . .

Talking Radalt 1st Aug 2006 16:02

"enrol" in the military. Interesting concept. :hmm:

truckiebloke 1st Aug 2006 16:23

fair point there radalt....

tokzik, dont worry about my thoughts mate, just stay fit and you'll have absolutely no problems achieving the very basic level of fitness required for the airforce.

I think he is refering to the new Pre-joining Fitness Test (PJFT) for all new potential entrants.

If you are in the age group I think you are, you need to complete a mile and a half run, on a treadmill, in 12 mins 11 secs or less. You only have 2 attempts to do so.

Next.......

Yeah i did see that on their website but i thought there would be more to it.

If thats all there is i should be good to go.. LoL
Thanks

I think my idea of average might differ slightly from the above!

Does anyone know of anything tha will increase my body mass to say 300kg in a week ??:{

Twonston Pickle 2nd Aug 2006 11:48

Tk,

That's all there is to the entrance test but you will still need to pass the RAFFT when you get in; it includes press-ups and sit-ups.

TMJ 2nd Aug 2006 13:46

It's a bleep test (or MSFT - Multi Stage Fitness Test) at OASC for P2 (ie officer and aircrew) candidates, the mile and a half on the treadmill for P3 (ie everyone else) candidates.

Pass levels, which are based on the theory that everyone's fitness will improve 10% under initial training, are:

Age MSFT 1.5-Mile Run

k3k3 2nd Aug 2006 15:37

2.5 miles in 9 mins 22 secs, is that on your bicycle?

TokZik 2nd Aug 2006 15:41

No ... I have been forced to go to the gym 3 times a week since I was 17 (I am now 22)... kinda sucked until i realised i was getting toned and it helps with the ladys lol im currently living in spain (mallorca) for the next few weeks. Man this island has a lot of tail to chase lol :E

k3k3 2nd Aug 2006 15:46

I don't believe you.

If you could run that fast everybody would have heard of you, and you'd have a chest full of Olympic medals.
