C-130 flying in circles

With everyone complaining about flying hours &c, who is flying a C-130 round and round over Basingstoke at 2300? It's like a 70 ton mosquito...

movadinkampa747 13th Jul 2006 22:33

Ok how do you know its at 2300'? And how on earth can you see it from Minneapolis?:ugh: And how do you know it currently weighs 70tons?

Movadinkampa747, not sure if your post was a joke but you just asked him how he knew it was 2300! little clue we use clocks.

Yes just my little joke. Wasted...........................:hmm:

When I was navving we used to fly round in circles often, especially at 2,300ft.

And having done 2300 orbits at FL230 we descended to 2,300 QFE until 2300 and then called it quits and retired to the scruffs bar.

Have heard a suggestion that it was something to do with 40 years of the C-130. Lots of low flying around Marshalls at Cambridge apparently. There was certainly one flying around my part of the world at about 2130 but I assumed it was something to do with the GR9 crash.

so it was 170ft lower than the other one then!!?

Something like that, my eyes may need recalibrating! ;)
