B2's over lincolnshire
 

Did anyone else see the B2 Flying over lincolnshire very low?

I live in the town of boston, and the whole town stood still as the giant fly overhead, the locals thought it was a UFO!!

Two hit the range at Wainfleet today I believe.

When does the BoI convene? :E

There busy for awhile trying to sort that whole big ocean, small ship, rock thingey down under.

Bet they had the RAF Exchange Officer with them so that they could actually find it! :p ;) :p

Pilot Pacifier - Amazingly there is an RAF Officer flying exchange on the B.2 at the moment . The RAF PR managed to name him in the press during the week . So it could indeed have been a case of a trip to blighty to bomb the range and see mum and dad!

Surname begin with 'W' by any chance?

In't 'good owld days' the skies of Lincolnshire were alive with B2 triangles, so they were...

...and quite a few B1A's too.

At least the crowds were not disappointed with the B2s turning up on time and with creditable accuracy.

Wonderful aircraft (once you had managed to get it off terra ferma).

44, 50, 83 and 101 all operated the Vulcan B1A from Waddington until the late 1960s, 101 was the last operator of the type until it re-equipped with the Vulcan B2 in early 1968.

Back in the days when we had an air force.......

Did 83 operate the B.1A? They gave up their Waddington wing B.1s and reformed at Scampton on the B.2 circa 1960 IIRC.

83 Sqn relinquished its Vulcan B1s to 44 Sqn in Aug 1960, then reformed at Scampton with Vulcan B2s in Dec 1960 bfore it was disbanded in Aug 1969.

44, 50 & 101 indeed. BS worked the Line at Waddington 66/67 then MEAS 68/69. You may recall the words of the song - "I am the lineman from the county..." (The Lincolnshire Lineman) - or perhaps not, as the case may be... :rolleyes:

As always- outnumbered by the aluminium overcast brigade.
