Belfast Flyby - F3's
This afternoon as I prepared to dismount my Orange steed at Northen Irelands only proper airport (cue ALLMCC polemic) I was much heartened by the pair of F3's that made a high speed run down Rw25.
It brought many grins to the apron and the very attractive cabin crew were very impressed chaps. Thanks, WWW |
How do you know the F3 crews were chaps?
|
To my mind that reads that the Welshman's attractive male cabin crew were impressed.
Shut that closet door! CBA |
As the Atco in the tower I can say that I spoke ONLY to chaps. We enjoyed it too ...but the Jag was better!!:E
|
Crikey, a Jag doing a low fly by! Have you checked your light towers to make sure thay all still have their tops on?

Just a Jag Reminder!
A link to the days when RAFO was SOAF and most of the pilots were 'mercenaries' - ie the good old days!

Well a Jag is hardly likely to manage a High Level fly by, is it? |
A Jag at FL450 ... Must have been pilotless ...!
F3s regularly visited FL450+ ... used to be a top ACMI tactic vs the USAF - they 'knew' about the F3's 'limits' and never counted on their adversaries being at FL500 ... "Fox 1 ..., Kill!" |

If it was the Jag being controlled by Swanwick this morning going from Belfast to Coltishall, he went home at FL450 |
A Jag at FL450 - Yeh whatever
Maybe 450` agl. Glad to see the Jag display is going strong Average speed passes at 100` Left to right Right to left Left to right Right to left BINGO Land Not even very loud. Goodbye to the light attack trainer jet. Fox 3, Fox 2, Guns |
Like the banter Fox_4!!
Although I have to say I thought the old slow speed pass was impressive. Not as slow as F18 but MUCH less to play with. As for the FL450 bit - I'm sure it was the old excuse - "sorry I read the wrong number on the altimeter/room number" |
Was in Jersey a couple of years ago when "The Saint" was departing back to Colt after a few days airshowing in the Channel Isles:
Jersey ATC: "Colt xx, what routing after departure?" Jag: "VFR" Jersey ATC: "and what level for the transit Northbound?" Jag: "Oh, about 250 feet" :D :D |
I know it's getting away from the point of the thread, but I felt obliged to stand up for the dear old F3 in that I once carried out a Skyflash firing from FL500 and M0.9. It worked, too. I can't remember the trial name, but it was a high seas affair, off the Shetlands. The target was a rocket fired from a Canberra. I guess we could have diverted to NI, so maybe it was on thread?
