54 Sqn born again

Rumour control has it that 54 Sqn will be born again at a secret airbase in Lincolnshire. It seems that the heavies are gradually taking over the world, 54 has always been fighter or ground attack, in it's new role it will be the ISTAR training school.

Why do you need to create a dedicated training squadron for a fleet that is (IIRC) 5 aircraft!?

Its just a way of keeping the old boys and the reunion associations happy. Not saying that there is anything wrong with that, nostalgia is not what it used to be.

Tarnished, In time it will be 5 x ASTOR, 7 x E3D and and some Nimrods.
