Sad Loss of Flt Lt Tony Smith RAF

I have just heard of the sad loss of Flt Lt Tony Smith, ex of Number 10 Squadron. I believe Tony died on Friday after a period of illness (sorry about the sketchy details but I am just trying to let people know the limited facts I have been given). A funeral service is being planned for Wednesday 13th July, 1200(seated by) at St Sampsons in Cricklade.
I understand that at time of posting it is not being planned as a Military one though I have no doubt Tonys many friends and colleagues from the services will wish to pay their respects.

Hopefully more accurate details will be added to correct any of the genuine mistakes I may have made.

(P.S. Mods if possible could you make this thread a sticky until after the 13th..Thanks)

Very sad to hear of the passing of one of my best chums from ULAS days; Tony will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Sorry that I won't be in the UK for his funeral; I extend my deepest sympathies to the bereaved.

I knew of his illness but having seen him back at work I didn't realise he was still fighting it.

RIP Tony.

I would also like offer my sincerest condolencies to Tony's family. A nicer chap you could not hope to meet. It was always a pleasure to fly with him and his charming unflapple manner.

He will be greatly missed by myself and everyone at who's been lucky enough to serve alongside him.

Sad news indeed. I too would like to offer my condolences to Tony's family and friends.

Tony was a thoroughly professional pilot who always set a fine example for his younger colleagues. He was a true gentleman and it was a pleasure to fly with and serve alongside him. It is a tragedy that he will not be able to enjoy a long and well-deserved retirement.

RIP Tony.
