Air Ops Iraq

Soooooo, can anybody tell me what the hell we are still doing over Iraq, that we couldn't do from a UAV/Sat? It can only be a matter of time before it all goes horribly wrong and we lose a jet.

Out of interest why do you think the environment over Iraq is so dangerous of fast jet recon?

I can see the high level of danger for rotary wing (not to mention the ground forces) but why for fast jet?

Perhaps it's because we don't have any UAV/Sat capable of doing the job!

Or in a really clapped out TriStar on a dodgy African registration, crewed by a mixed bag of Aussies and Jordanians, not to mention an even more clapped out An-12 crewed by a suspect lot of Eastern Europe origin.

Think I may just decline their offer to visit Saddam Intl. or Mosul.

Would that be British Gulf International Airlines' Antonov 12 by any chance?

helidriver 10th Jun 2004 13:36

Or in a mighty Gazelle:uhoh:
