Civic(?) Formation
Whilst working Leeds App. yesterday late morning, I heard a call sign of Civic ( I think ) formation. This turned out to be a mixed formation of 5 fast jets transiting northbound over the A1 at 3100'. They were eventually handed over to Teeside. I was intrigued because a mix of 5 fast jets is unusual at any time, but on a Sunday morning??
I wondered if anyone could shed any light on this?? |
Don't know if its the same lot, but i saw a formation made up of a mixture flying near Upavon and Netheravon. May have come from Boscombe Down as they were coming from that sort of direction.

They're from Boscombe Down.

Seems like it was the same formation I saw at about 1035ish yesterday - 2 Tornados led by 3 smaller (F16 or similar size) FJs.
More than "they're from Boscombe Down" can anyone contribute any further ? Perhaps a visiting foreign contingent ? |
Sounds like a FJTS Sunday jolly, and why not?! Twas a gorgeous day for it!
 |
I understand that the formation consisted of 2x Harrier GR.7, 2x Tornado GR4 and 1x Jaguar F.3. The callsign was Civic and they were enroute Boscombe-Lossiemouth for the TLT/Nitex taking place this week.
Hope that helps. |
Thankyou. I was intrigued with it being a Sunday, but as Spugford says, it was a gorgeous day. I certainly enjoyed it.

They are all at " Ice Staion Kilo"...and are from the Boscombe Fast jet unit..
Just to remind everyone...Only ISK is open on Sundays, not HMS Fulmar. They are getting in some night stuff...well up to Tuesday anyway, cos its just about to unload a ton of Snow on us. By god its cold. |
