Salute!

Great recall, Spaz!

We had a Sooey Pig squadron at Korat in the 72 time frame for Linebacker.

They were the standoff jammers and did well. No losses near Hanoi, but we did have a takeoff crash and I tink half the crew punched out OK.

They were glad to see us in the SLUF, as we shared those nervoursly long rolls down the runway. Imagine a procedure to download one or two 500 pounders if computed roll was over 80%. The Double Ugly folks turned around the check speed start signs one night, so next morning the ones at far end said "start takeoff here".

Our retort was "any plane that needs an afterburner to takeoff and a drag chute to land shows a poor design"

Happy New Year from a tired, old aviator.....

There is a linear development line from the Typhoon to the Hunter if you want to stretch that (Typhoon - Tempest - Fury - 'Jet Fury' design - Seahawk - P1052 - - P1081 - Hunter

That was indeed 1981 ... 7 x F-16As from the 388th TFW at Hill AFB to RAF Lossiemouth from the end of May '81 until the end of June. They were over here for the RAF Tactical Bombing Competition, which was just one week in mid-June.
