MI5 is the domestic security service while MI6 is the foreign intelligence gathering service. Investigating a breach in UK embassy security would fall to the former.

Sentenced to 5 years, out in 2 and still gets his RAF pension. Any takers ?

In Russia a similar traitor would be eating a Novichok tainted sandwich.

What a curious statement. Given that the Security Service have responsibility, including established posts overseas, for the security of UK diplomatic missions from a counter-intelligence perspective, why would MI6 be appropriate here?
