Indonesia approves USD700 million in foreign loans for aerial tanker buy

The Indonesian Ministry of Finance (MoF) has granted approval for the country to obtain up to USD700 million in foreign loans to procure two aerial tankers for the Indonesian Air Force (Tentara Nasional Indonesia Angkatan Udara: TNI-AU) in 2021.

This was revealed in a notice issued by the MoF on 26 April listing a total of 31 Ministry of Defence (MoD) programmes for which funding through foreign loans has been approved.….

They operate Russian, are buying F-15's and Rafael

Well part of their criteria for selection was based on commonality with Garuda for servicing, spares etc - and Garuda has a fleet of 48 x A330s….

considering the deep financial Poo Poo that garuda is in thats going to a non issue. Rumor are they Garuda will be going to a domestic 737-800 fleet only in an attempt to survive

They have 142 planes in the fleet and want to return 101

They also recently default on their restructuring loan

A deputy minister of state-owned enterprises said earlier this month the state-controlled airline's total debt is about US$4.5 billion and it runs a US$100 million negative cashflow a month due to high costs and low revenues during the coronavirus pandemic.
