I think this guy should perhaps consider sticking to demonstrating hats, in order to impress the equally qualified lady director with his abilities.............

As you didn’t give a date I chose 75 as a median 1970’s date. By chance in assorted memorabilia I have a train ticket Adult Welwyn North to KGX pre 71 price is 5/6d. So allowing for inflation and doubling it to make a return price, 4x adults is roughly £15 spent out of your £850. Even if you take your £100 to 1980 today’s value is roughly £490. My unrestricted monthly rail season ticket in 82 was £45, not a great deal less than my weeks yoof wage packet. £100 pounds mid 70’s even well into the 80’s for a day out would have been an almost unthinkable amount to spend on a single day out in those days for an average family.

It's not just the RAFM and the Daily Mail that do comedy. See this article about the SAAF in GW1.
