I notice the original artwork for the Corgi Jaguar is on sale

It's on a well known auction site, but I have copied an image over below, just a question, I have watched the film after seeing this, did the original Jaguars not have the guns fitted? as the one on the film and the image hasn't, or was it some weight reduction scheme for the landing though that would screw about with the C of G? just a query as an ex later jag guy..

Gr1 was fitted with two guns even before the laser nose arrived.

Edited to say that having watched it you are right about the aircraft in the video - BAE mod perhaps?

I seem to remember that this publicity stunt was very early in the aircraft’s life so maybe it was a development aircraft without the guns?

XX109 was S2, the second S model built and flown. I flew S1 a few times but cannot remember whether or not it had the guns fitted. I will check some pictures that I have and update this post.

It is quite possible that S2 had the gun barrel ports faired over and flight test instrumentation fitted in the gun bays.

S2 was never a flyer in RAF service. One of the 3 original GRs used for BAC / BAE flying trials. XX108 stayed in BAE's stable its entire flying career (Mk 106 Engine trials was its last major project before retirement). S3 was also used but was passed onto RAF service not long into the types service. BAE finished with XX109 in the early 80's just as RAFG was starting to go to Tornado and Jag drawdown was started. Was so behind the curve on service mods and with other frames being retired, was taken to Colt and there it became the weapons load trainer and local rob plane for the odd bit. With GR3 XZ367 becoming available, XX109 was retired from maintenance frame use and "Loaned" to The City of Norwich Aviation Museum, where in time the Museum purchased it off the MoD.

FWIW, Corgi produced a " Limited Edition " ( 1500 to be precise) 1:72 model in what they term "decommissioned livery" as in 6 Sqdn's Tiger paint scheme. I actually have one, albeit still pristine in the box.

Errrm I think you will find the JAGUAR was painted in a JAGUAR scheme not a Tiger one... slight Typo there

Here is one or two I took earlier.

Impressively short take-off run in that M55 video. What went wrong subsequently? More that 10 minutes fuel loaded? 😀

Someone that was involved (a plumber) told me they were dummy lightweight bombs, whether that is right though I do not know.

The first tranche of Jaguars did not have guns; certainly the ones I flew in 1964 did not. I understand also that during the Aden gun trials the exhaust caused some damage resulting from an explosion in the gun bay. Think also that the shell cases hit the underside of the aeroplane, but maybe my memory of 47 years ago is weak

I went into the wrong HAS on 20 Sqn in 1978 and found a very early Jaguar, it had a short nose gear door, splitters in front of the intakes, and simple cockpit instruments that wouldn't have looked out of place in a Hunter, in pride of place was a centrally mounted large grey/black artificial horizon.

I vaguely remember the airbrakes didn't have the perforations, but I wouldn't swear to that.

I wonder if that was the one used for “the bomb” upload training, wasn’t there when I was.

Comment from Dunsfold at the time was along the lines of 'what, you mean they had to close the motorway??'
