Because it has the finess of a steamroller. It is rubbish. It defaces the Union Flag. It is Nul Pont to other display kites of other nations. The Rafale of the the AdA is selling the AdA. The other nations don't need to sell their countries flag, they sell their service or their units history. Alas the RAF rules to QRs on schemes are not to have any fun. John Sullivan wanted a design as you know. I was pushing for a design that was RAF based. I got it in the end with the crests. My addition to it was the Union flag. No BA bull s*** . As it is laid flat. Not defaced or as my brother has stated, dragged into a black hole.

I am with you there, simple and effective, and makes up for the lack of an 80th anniversary reminder. Update later with White bands for D day. (even the name fits the occasion)

As you know it is hard to compete with the design you mention. I just don't think this one is worth getting upset about. Some people have taken a pretty decent amount of time and worked within the constraints given them (not everyone can get sponsorship money!) and come up with something that is striking even if not to everyone's taste.

Maybe I'm easily pleased but I think any special design is better than nothing.

That's due to the site being too smart. The trick is not to use the Embed or BBCode code from Flickr, just use the Share option so that you get a single link. The forum software will automatically create the needed code to display the image. The Flickr Embed code actually has two links in it, one to display the image and one to click on should you wish to do so, and the forum software treats both the same and ignores the HTML code surrounding them. It may be a nuisance, but should also help with avoiding nasty HTML code used by spammers and such.
